Desktop Computer Requirements for Using DMA
DMA (Direct Memory Access) is inserted into the PCIe slots on your computer’s motherboard. Your motherboard needs to have available PCIe slots, which can be PCIEx1, PCIEx4, PCIEx8, or PCIEx16.
- Identifying PCIe Slots:
- The green slots are PCIe slots, which are compatible with DMA.
- The red slots are standard PCI slots, which are not compatible with DMA.
- Distinguishing Between the Two: Look for the keying notches; the PCIe notch is on the left, while the PCI notch is on the right.
- Small Motherboards:
- If your motherboard is a compact model, the graphics card may block other PCIe slots. In this case, you may need to purchase a PCIe extension cable from platforms like Amazon.

Laptop Requirements for Using DMA
- Power Supply:
- HackDMA comes with a USB power supply mode. For devices like M.2 NVMe to PCIe adapters or Thunderbolt 3/4 to PCIe graphics expansion docks, you do not need to consider external power supply.
- If you are using a different DMA device (not HackDMA), you will need to purchase an external power supply, as these devices do not receive power on their own. Improper power connections can damage the equipment.
- BIOS Settings:
- Before using DMA, ensure your laptop can disable virtualization and DMA kernel protection in the BIOS. Refer to BIOS tutorials for instructions on how to disable these settings.
- Available Slots:
- Check if your laptop has an extra M.2 hard drive slot or a Thunderbolt 3/4 port.
- If you have an extra M.2 slot, you can purchase an M.2 NVMe to PCIe adapter. This requires disassembling the laptop’s back cover to install the adapter, which is relatively inexpensive but requires some technical skill.
- Using Thunderbolt 3/4:
- If your laptop has a Thunderbolt 3/4 port, you can use a Thunderbolt 3/4 to PCIe graphics expansion dock. You will also need to buy a Thunderbolt 3/4 data cable.
- Note that these devices can be expensive, with cheaper options starting around 500 yuan.

Secondary Machine Requirements
- Minimum Requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 Professional
- CPU: Intel i3 4th generation dual-core with 4 threads or equivalent AMD CPU
- RAM: 8GB
- USB: USB 3.0 interface
- For Fusion or Streaming Features:
- The secondary machine should have a dedicated graphics card, at least at the level of NVIDIA 960 or better. AMD graphics cards are also acceptable.
